panel cards

Sometimes looking back I can’t remember where an idea came from – like painting on panel cards. I remember finding the cards – bottom shelf, back corner at a wholesale paper company. I fell for the clean formality of the panel indent on the cards. I have painted 100s of these, first more than 300 votive offering cards for [army], then gold-leaf mudras (hand gestures of the Buddha), and many more decorative experiments for my own pleasure. Most are acrylic over several coats of textured gesso, except for the four-winged dryads painted in gouache. And most are on 7 x 5 in. cards.
