The news is often full of bad tidings. And yet, every day also holds the possibility of happiness. The smallest things give evidence of it: the summer world reflected in a puddle, quilt-like patches of field patterns made small from the distance of a jet window, elaborate floral details painted in the margins of manuscripts and real June flowers opening non-stop. From these tiny bits, it is possible to paint a world of happiness.
